Erik Johnson Great Overtime Goal vs Phoenix Coyotes – Nov 19th 2009 (HD)

ST. LOUIS — Erik Johnson showed why the St. Louis Blues took him with the first pick in the 2006 NHL entry draft. The defenceman finished off the Phoenix Coyotes on Thursday night with a highlight reel goal and an end-to-end rush that ended with Johnson firing a wrist shot past goalie Ilya Bryzgalov from the high slot 17 seconds into overtime for a 3-2 victory. “It felt great. Any time you score a goal it feels good,” Johnson said. “But to win a game against a good team like Phoenix, it feels even better.” After Phoenix put the puck in St. Louis’ end, Johnson gained control, skated up left wing and crossed the Coyotes’ blue-line with the puck. He then moved into the middle and beat Bryzgalov with a screened wrist shot. “I didn’t see it when he released the puck,” Bryzgalov said. “I only found the puck when it was close to my pad and it was too late.”

  1. @232Guitarboy
Winning goal always great? I think if that was not the decisive shot and just a normal goal, that wouldn’t even get into the Youtube.

  2. it was not a highlight goal and his end to end skating is like an offensive player going across the ice to defend, but it’s nice to see a defender get a goal and his shot was perfect i bet if he shot it a little harder it would have miss the net and i see a ton of great players take the same shot

  3. 5 stars for retarded along the ice wrist shot from the top of the circle….

  4. a wining goal IS great lol

  5. what a bad shot!

  6. I wish EJ was on my team

  7. Anyone who doesn’t appreciate the end to end rush he makes in this video is fucking retarded and probably one of the people who would have taken Kessel or Staal.
