This guy may be a stretch expert, but he doesn’t know shit about jumping and increasing your vertical. Most of your running vertical has to do with what is called your myotactic stretch reflex. (It’s the reflex your doctor checks when he hits your knee with that little hammer)
Flexibility has almost nothing to do with it. In fact, some argue there is greater strength/reflex in your muscles if they are tight. Static stretching is terrible – it should be done ballistically.

Remember the formula- Strength Stretch Cardio. I would add study. Study everything. The body is a great organism and deserves the best. No matter one’s body type muscle are designed to be long and lean- Long and Lean. if one is bulky, they are basically constipated from all the bad food. 2- second sports stretching is a safe program that every one can do and it is SOUND. streching doesn’t directly lead to people jumping higher. what stretching does is increase the capacity of strength your muscles can have. if you imagine each muscle as a catapolt the further back u can stretch it the more power the pebbles will be propelled with (really bad comparison i know).

I don’t buy the idea that stretching makes you jump higher. If you can’t generate the force with your muscles, flexibility will not make up the difference.
the best way to jump higher is to jump more…. everything else is just to help

i went athletics seminar by carl lewis. he told us that he doesnt stretch and that stretching doesnt help much in his jumps or sprints. i swear its all true.
Well if stretching helps your quickness it will help your explosion. Big clumsy legs wont do a lot good.

you can reference “worlds greatest dunker”. This is a 5′10 frenchman who at one time had a 50+ verticle. he lifts no weights but over the course of the day stretches a total of 4 hours. He is like a gymnast. His stretching and workouts create balance. Likewise on a DVD(flying 101) featuring him there is a leaper who works on lifting weights in burst. But stretches in between each routine.
